The Graphing Calculator Story

Continuing my love affair with tv, last night I watched a Google TechTalk (link no longer available) by Ron Avitzur on Graphing Calculator. The story of Graphing Calculator has become legendary: it was written at Apple during the transition to PPC in the 90s by two engineers that were not even employed by the company. After their contracts were terminated, and unbeknown to management, they continued to work on the Apple campus — for no pay — utilizing top secret PPC systems that even IBM engineers didn’t have access to. The result of this covert operation was Graphing Calculator, which was one of only very few PPC-native apps to ship with the first PPC systems. For the whole story, download (link no longer available) the video to your Mac, iPod, or tv, and enjoy.
